The pictures below were taken at the time these dogs
were rescued either at the shelters that work with
us, other rescues that work with us, or at
Pom Haven Rescue.
We think it's important for the public to see
the condition these poor souls were in at the time of
rescue.
What a difference the care, concern, time,
and love of a few people can make in these dogs lives!

Ava
Ava was rescued from a puppy mill in MO she was found in a shed behind the puppy mill. With the help of Sara T. a dedicated individual from another rescue in WV this little Shih Tzu girl was nursed back to health and transferred here to Pom Haven Rescue. Ava was then placed in foster care with one of our dedicated foster people named Jenn. Since rescue Ava continues to thrive and is now well, lets just say she needs a diet and is very heavy to lift onto the grooming table :) Jenn adopted Ava shortly after fostering her and has provided a warm and very loving home for her.

Miss Wiggles
Wiggles came to us from a PA shelter. She was tied up and suffering from flea bites and sunburn. The shelter was unable to place her so they called us and asked us to take her. She had nails so long they looked like talons and it was very painful for her to walk. Her dew claw was embedded in her little leg. Wiggles was treated for her severe skin issues. She had several medicated baths and was given Aveeno soaks twice daily. Her nails were cut so she could walk without pain. Wiggles was given a lot of love and care and is doing well.

Miss Wiggles
She looks much better and seems to be feeling a little better as well.

Taz
Taz came to us from a shelter in WV he was severely matted and filthy. His teeth and gums were so infected they were black and green. He was very weak and under weight.

Taz was given some much need love and care he was also vaccinated, neutered, and had a dental. He is doing quite well.

As you can see Taz is a cute little boy and he looks so much better after his grooming.

Khloe
Khloe came to us from a PA shelter she was found wandering around a rural area on a mans property he turned her into the shelter. The shelter called us to take Khloe. She was in deplorable condition, covered in mats and her skin was sore and red she had no fur on her lower back and was suffering from flea bite dermatitis. Her nails as you can see in the picture, had not be clipped in a very long time. She was matted, filthy, and very frightened.

As you can see Khloe has been groomed her nails have been cut and she looks like she feels soooo much better.
She is a happy, sweet and loveable little girl and no longer frightened.

Khloe is still available for adoption.

Carson
Carson was surrendered to us from a rural dog pound in Ohio. He was labeled a red zone case (severely viscious dog) and was due to be euthanized. Pom Haven Rescue was his last hope.
From the minute we got Carson into the car her tried to attack anything and everything that moved. He was indeed a red zone case one of the worst we'd seen. Carson had been left tied to a tree and had been severely abused for most of his life before coming to our rescue. Carson was quite a challenge to say the least! We took it a day at a time and handled him for the first week or so with welding gloves. Once Carson finally learned we weren't going to hurt him he stopped trying to bite us and allowed us to work with him on his terms. After several weeks of rehabilitation and some training Carson really loosened up and started to allow other people to touch and pet him. within several months Carson was leading a normal dogs life and we were able to bath him, groom him, hold him, and walk him. He progressed each day and was finally adopted into a wonderful loving home where he continues to thrive and hopefully has forgotten his past life of pain and misery.

Nemo
Nemo came to us as an abuse case from a Northern PA shelter. His former owner was said to have thrown him against the wall causing this tiny 6 pound dog to have a hip bone fracture and a broken tail. Pom Haven Rescue took Nemo to be evaluated by a specialist he needed surgery to repair his broken femur. The femoral head was severed from the femur. Nemos surgery and vet care exceeded $1500.00 after the surgery Nemo required several weeks of physical therapy. Nemo has since recovered and has been adopted he is doing very well.
